Coronavirus Covid 19 and your wedding cancellation. What to do?

So, you have planned your wedding for the last few months, and you visualise the day over and over and then suddenly you are forced to cancel, postpone your Big day.

As for today 23rd Feb 2021, The Irish government restrictions under level 4 and 5 restrictions, just six guests are allowed to attend a wedding, along with the couple getting married.

These current circumstances are sad, but unfortunately, it is the reality to most brides and grooms for now and for the coming weeks. The new fact leaves couples with no other choice than to reschedule their wedding day.

There is no one person that won’t be affected by the outbreak of coronavirus in Ireland and the whole world in general. One way or another this has an impact on all of us, and we can make this more bearable by helping each other and be understandable.
Everyone in the wedding industry is hugely hit by this unusual situation and we all learn as we go how to best deal with it.

Speaking on Newstalk earlier this afternoon, Peter Kelly of Weddings With Franc said Covid-19 had seen the industry largely “wiped out.” You can read more about what is going on with wedding industry at the moment here . We all hope for more clarity from government so we can start planing our future soon.

As wedding photographers, we want to ensure that we will help you best way we can to make this whole process just a bit easier. We advise all our couples to reschedule their wedding at least until June. We will transfer your deposit to your date if we are available to work with you on your new time. Please get in touch with us, and we hope we can work this out together.

Also, you can keep in mind that days like Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sundays are more likely to be free.

So what should you do if your wedding day is approaching?

We would suggest firstly contact your wedding venue and check with them available dates they can offer you. Whether you planned to have a traditional wedding ceremony, civil or humanist service, you should also make sure to check with your priest or sole minister that they will be available to proceed at the new date.

The next step would be to contact all your current suppliers and check their availability.

The big tip and I would repeat it again, is to consider mid weekdays and also Sundays. Most venues and also suppliers would have midweeks and Sundays available, and this can save you lots of stress, time to hunt for new vendors and even save money for all your deposits already paid.

Once you get to this part, talk to your closes family, friends about the date change and you can dream your wedding again!

It’s going to be a fantastic day with a big love story to tell!

In the meantime, stay well, take care of yourself and your loved ones. Drink plenty of water, eat well, take some vitamins, meditate, pray, read, sing, do some gardening, or whatever makes you calm and happy and be positive. We will get through this and it’s going to be good again.
